My skincare routine, and why I upped my game

My skincare routine, and why I upped my game

Skincare has always been very important to me.

From a very early age, I cleansed my face and ensured that it was always moisturised.

In fact, I could probably count on one hand the number of times I have gone to bed without taking my make up off!

That was until I reached a certain age ! and realised that the products I was using were just not sufficient anymore for my skincare routine. There was nothing wrong with them, had I of been maybe a few years younger.

I started to notice that my skin was a lot dryer and looking rather sallow at times. It was losing its plumpness which of course led to wrinkles and dark spots.

There also appeared to be a bit of rosacea forming on my cheeks. Which is being treated with a course of laser treatment at my local beauty salon, Fresh Beauty

In light of all of the excitement over The ordinary, I decided to to a little bit of investigation work into what products may help me move forward and achieve a plumper and fuller complexion.

Anyway, I came across the following products which are at the moment my favorite.

This is not a full breakdown of all of the products I currently use, in my skincare routine, and in fact, it is only some of the products I use in the morning. If you watch my Instastories you will have seen me give a little insight into the routine I now have in the morning.

So to begin with, I always use a really good cleanser, along with my Braun Face Mini Cleanser.

The one that I am loving right now is Beauty Pie’s Double-Phase Daily Deep Rinse-Off Cleanser.

Beauty Pie is a great site and I suggest you go and check them out. Basically, you pay a membership fee either monthly or annually. Then full-size products are purchased at a reduced price. All of the products are classically packaged! Which looks great on any bathroom shelf 🙂

Then I would tone with the Environ Moisturising Toner.

There’s a blog post here all about Environ

I have been using Environ for probably two years now.  I have to say it is an amazing product. However, it can only be purchased I believe from salons.

Then I apply, The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% and The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2%.

Next product to be applied will be my Environ AVST 4.

It’s a good idea to build your products depending on consistency

For example, Environ is a cream so it will absorb differently to a serum.

This helps the absorption process.

The next product I will use is the NIOD Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate.

I tend not to put anything else under my eyes as I seem to have a slight problem with lymphatic drainage.  Ever since an overactive thyroid was diagnosed quite a few years ago. Even though it’s now mildly underactive.

All heavier products seem to do is highlight the puffiness and add to the fluid that is retained under my eyes.

Here is a link which will give you all of the technical know-how if you wish to investigate it further. I am still on the lookout though for that miracle product to get rid of the fluid if anyone has any recommendations x

Okay so I have sorted out the eye area, well almost… so what now?

Well, I have to say, this is my favorite part. Mostly because these are two of my favorite products, and they are both serums!

The First one is the Timeless Coenzyme Q10 Serum which contains Vitamin E and Dehydroacetic Acid amongst other things. It goes on a dream. For further information Timeless Q10 Coenzyme Serum.

However, my No 1 favorite skincare product is

 La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Serum.

The texture of this serum is just beautiful. I will be refreshing the bottle once I have finished it that’s for sure! Not only does it make your skin feel amazing, but your makeup goes on a dream after applying it.

I’ve linked it here just in case you want to check it out. Oh, and their body lotion is great too, especially if like me you suffer from really dry legs!

La Roche-Posay

Finally, we are onto an SPF. Now I have to admit that this was something I didn’t really take seriously. The only SPF I applied to my skin was that in either suntan lotion or in my Tinted Moisturiser.  You can imagine my horror when I started to get sun damage spots on my face and on my decolletage. I had to do something about it.

This product not only contains an SPF 50 High Protection, but it also provides mineral radiance.

Mineral Radiance is so useful these days especially when I am sweating it out at the gym and a whole face of makeup just isn’t a good idea. This little product is. Why you may well ask, well because it gives you a finished look. Evening out any uneven skin tones, and protects you from sun damage.

Win Win I would say 🙂

One thing I will say is that by no means is this list exhaustive.

I am always open to trying out new products and seeing what really makes a difference.

I mean skin care has advanced so much lately along with resources giving you incredible information so why not make the most of it.

I suppose the big question is “Does all of this really make a difference”?

♥ And the answer is YES… My skin feels alive again. I wake up in the morning with an element of radiance. Almost as though I have had a great nights sleep. I no longer feel as though my skin looks grey and sallow. Recommend it definitely !! We spend so much time thinking about our physical health, yet fail to look after our largest organ, our skin ♥
