I was recently invited to an event which meant that I had to dress against the grain and find my inner rock chick.
Yes, I grew up listening to anything from Van Halen to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but not out of choice.
There was often a degree of mixed music genre being blasted out across my childhood haven. From Opera to Punk and Ska, the latter being my preference. I was more Modette than Rockette, so when I knew I was going to watch a live band rock it out on stage, I had the perfect opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, and try to re-work my youth, albeit somewhat 35 years later!
I knew I didn’t want to look as though I had tried to hard, yet still retaining some rawness to my attire.
The first outfit I chose consisted of softening up the hard edges of the typical black ensemble and let’s face it how many times are we told not to wear black next to our skin past a certain age as it just makes us look older… The advice I don’t listen to that often!
I went for a Missguided Pink Guns Roses T-Shirt (as shown above), Leather look Trousers (Zara) and High Heeled Boots (Zara)
I also wanted to try to make my hair look a little unwashed than usual but decided against the interlayer crimping my hairdresser had recommended I try out, in case it looked more scarecrow than rock chick. Instead, I used a grunge powder by Osis. I have linked below similar or exact items for you to look, should you wish to bring your inner rock chick to life and scare your kids 😉
